Exercise 4 Youtube – use this in your subject line
Youtube is a specialised website where videos can be uploaded and viewed. Links from webpages can be made to view the videos. Videos can also be but embedded in websites for example on a blog. Youtube is very popular and well known, other examples of videosharing sites are available through Google and Yahoo.
You can embed a video in one of your blog posts. Here we will embed a video of Nancy Pearl.
Click on the "Insert a video " button. Click the "From Youtube" button. Search for a Nancy Pearl video. It can be serious or funny. Click on the one you want and choose select.
Describe briefly the promotion that is being undertaken in the
video.

Exercise 5 Social Networking – use this in your subject line
People can have their own personal webpage housed in a communal website. It is a great way to build up professional networks and collaborate in a workplace. It is considered a community building tool. Facebook is currently very popular for individuals and there is a feature where you can create page for a celebrity, band or business. Take a look at what the National Library of Australia has done on Facebook.

Do a Google search for the
following phrase - “I'll Bet I Can Find 1,000,000 People Who Think Libraries
Are Important”. Take a look at this advocacy site on Facebook. It also has some
great quotes about the value of libraries. Write a post on your blog about why
you think it is a good idea for a library to participate on a social networking
site, or why not. Make certain you label your post.
If you are a Facebook member you might like to join
the “Libraries are important” site. (joining Facebook and/or joining this site
is not assessed).

Exercise 7 Podcasts – use this in your subject line
Podcasting is a way of automatically downloading
audio or video files to your computer. You can then play this audio or video file.
'Podcast' generally refers to audio files whilst 'Video Podcast' (or 'Vodcast')
refers to the distribution of video files in the same manner.
Find a podcast in any Australian library. Post to your
blog a short summary of the podcast. Include the library’s name, title of
podcast and link. Make certain you label your post.
